Who it fits
Good fit for
This kit suits beginners aged nine to twelve who are transitioning from smaller instruments. The 36-inch size offers a comfortable reach for smaller arms without sacrificing the feel of a real electric guitar. The included 20-watt amp allows for practice with headphones, which is ideal for home use or apartment living. If you want a complete, ready-to-play setup without buying separate accessories, this package provides all the core components in one box.
Who should skip it
Adults or larger players will find the 36-inch scale too short for comfortable playing. The neck width is 1.75 inches, which is narrower than standard full-size guitars, potentially feeling cramped for larger hands. If you need a left-handed instrument, you must select the specific left-handed variation, as the standard model is right-handed. Players seeking professional-grade hardware or complex tone-shaping options will find this basic kit limiting.
Verdict: This is a practical, all-in-one starter package for young beginners who need a properly scaled instrument. It delivers the essential specs for learning without unnecessary complexity.
Key specs explained for this kit
Neck Material: Canadian Maple
This neck material offers a smooth playing surface that supports fast hand movement. Maple is known for its stability, which helps the guitar stay in tune as temperatures change. You benefit from a consistent feel during practice sessions. When comparing instruments, check if the neck material matches your comfort preference for speed and accuracy.
Fretboard Material: Rosewood
Rosewood provides a warm tone and a smooth texture under your fingers. This material is durable and requires less maintenance than some other types. You will notice a comfortable grip while learning chords. When shopping, consider how fretboard material affects both sound quality and long-term playability for beginners.
Included Amp Wattage: 20W
This power output allows you to play at moderate volumes without disturbing neighbors. A 20-watt amp is suitable for home practice and small room rehearsals. You can connect headphones for silent practice or use the AUX input for backing tracks. Compare this wattage to larger amps if you plan to perform with a band later.
Size: 36" Right Handed
The 36-inch length identifies this as a 3/4 size guitar, ideal for younger players or smaller adults. The right-handed configuration means the strings are arranged for left-hand fretting. This size bridges the gap between tiny children’s guitars and full-size instruments. Ensure this dimension matches your arm reach for comfortable playing posture.
Design and Build Quality
According to the listing, the LyxPro 36 Inch Electric Guitar Kit uses a Canadian Maple neck and a Premium Rosewood fingerboard. Maple provides a smooth surface for your fingers, which supports faster hand movement. It is also known for stability, helping the instrument stay in tune as temperatures shift. The Rosewood fingerboard adds a rich tonal character to your playing. These material choices aim to replicate the feel of a full-size adult instrument, scaled down for younger players. The kit is designed for right-handed use, with a head width of 1.75 inches. This narrow width can be easier for smaller hands to manage during early lessons.
The guitar measures 36 inches in length, classifying it as a 3/4 size model. This size bridges the gap between tiny children’s models and standard adult guitars. The body is available in Red, Natural, Green, Pink, Blue, and White. The listing notes that the instrument includes Volume and Tone knobs for sound control. You can adjust these settings to match your playing style or the genre you are practicing. The included 20-watt amplifier features Gain, Bass, Treble, Volume, and Grind controls. These integrated controls allow you to shape your tone without needing external effects pedals. The design focuses on providing a complete, ready-to-play experience for beginners aged nine to twelve.
Setup and Everyday Use
Setting up this kit is straightforward because it arrives as a complete package. You do not need to source separate components to begin playing. The included 20-watt amplifier connects directly to the guitar via the provided cable. This amp features built-in controls for gain, bass, treble, volume, and grind. You can plug headphones into the jack for private practice, which is useful for late-night sessions. The auxiliary input allows you to connect a phone or MP3 player, enabling you to play along with recorded tracks. This feature helps you develop timing and rhythm without external interference.
Daily use is supported by the included digital tuner. You clip it onto the headstock to ensure accurate pitch. The instruction book guides you through basic tuning procedures, which is essential for maintaining sound quality. The kit also provides six spare strings and two picks, so you have replacements ready if needed. The comfortable shoulder strap allows for standing play, which is common for electric guitar practice.
The 36-inch scale length and 1.75-inch nut width are designed for younger hands. This size fits players aged nine to twelve comfortably. The right-handed orientation is standard for most beginners. You can adjust the volume and tone knobs on the guitar body to shape your sound. The Canadian maple neck and rosewood fingerboard provide a consistent feel during long practice sessions. This setup minimizes distractions, letting you focus on technique and learning songs from day one.
Before You Buy This Kit
You need to verify that your child fits the 36-inch scale. This 3/4 size bridges the gap between small models and full-size instruments. Check the neck width of 1.75 inches to ensure small hands can reach chords comfortably. The kit includes a 20-watt amplifier with an AUX input, so you should have a phone or MP3 player ready to plug in for practice sessions. Since the guitar is right-handed, confirm your player is not left-handed, as left-handed versions are available in other colors. You will need to buy a power outlet near your practice space for the amp. Regular upkeep includes wiping down the rosewood fingerboard and maple neck to prevent buildup. This kit sits alongside other beginner options by offering a complete package. Unlike bare guitars, it includes strings, picks, and a tuner, reducing initial setup friction for novice players aged nine to twelve.
Check before you buy
- Confirm the player is right-handed, as left-handed models exist.
- Ensure small hands can reach the 1.75-inch neck width.
- Have a phone ready for the amp’s AUX input.
